How we work

Editorial standards

Insurance decisions are hard to reverse, so our guides are held to the same standard as the policies we distribute. Here is how they are researched, reviewed and kept current.

How a guide gets published

  1. Step one

    Researched against primary sources

Figures come from regulators, industry bodies and insurer filings, not from other blogs. Where a number is an estimate or varies by state, we say so in the text.

  2. Step two

    Written by our editorial team

Writers are named on every article with a link to their profile. They do not receive commission on any product mentioned in a guide.

  3. Step three

    Reviewed by a licensed agent

Anything covering underwriting, eligibility or claims is checked by a licensed insurance professional, currently Kiruba Shankar Eswaran, before it goes live.

  4. Step four

    Reviewed again at least yearly

Every guide carries a last-updated date. Guides are re-checked at least once a year, and immediately when a rule, rate or product detail changes.

What we will not do

  • Quote a price we cannot stand behind. Real premiums depend on your details, so we point to a quote rather than inventing a figure.
  • Present a guide as personal advice. Our content is educational; a licensed agent can advise on your situation.
  • Let commercial priorities shape a recommendation. Where an Eleos product is relevant we say so plainly and label it.
  • Hide limitations. Exclusions, waiting periods and state variations belong in the guide, not the small print.

Corrections

If you spot something that looks wrong, tell us and we will check it. Substantive corrections are made in the article and reflected in its last-updated date.
